Title: Why would I change my hosts file?

I've seen a few references to changing the hosts file, but what is the purpose of doing that?  Just wondering...

You might want to download and use SpywareBlaster - I recommend it to everyone.

There are various software apps that try to "phone home" for different reasons. If you wish to protect your privacy you can blacklist that site in your HOSTS file.

The Hosts file is a used by Microsoft Windows as his DNS.

If you modify that file you can blocked websites or redirect websites.
