Title: More Help For A Newbie

 I have a Windows XP disk that I want to install on a laptop tht has W98 on it, but I cannot boot it from the drive to replace the old O/S...
Can someone give me a clue??

why cant you? can you not access the BIOS?

So this isn't a shiny CD that has holograms and says Microsoft all over it ? ?

At any rate try entering the BIOS setup on bootup and set the CDRom as the first boot device...

when your computer starts up, it should tell you what key to hit to enter the BIOS. the key differs from each BIOS manufacturer, but the most common keysare DEL, F1, F12.
