Title: IE shuts down/closes accessing certain pages
Post by: SparkyOU on August 04, 2006, 08:35:45 AM
I have a Dell Dimension desktop operating with Windows XP.  I can get to the net using IE 6.x but when I try to get to an MSN page using my hotmail/passport login, I get a message saying that IE has encountered a problem and will shut down.  They ask if I want to send a message about this problem to MS, I click yes and it closes out of IE.  I have tried rebooting and going to the site in a different manner but no joy.  This seems to happen periodically.  It goes away for awhile and then comes back.  I think I am current on all my Windows updates.

Try downloading Sun's Java VM from www.java.com.  Might help.  I'd also recommend moving away from IE, in favour of Firefox or Opera, but I'm not convinced that MSN will work 100% with those non-MS browsers...  Still, it's unlikely to get worse!
