How do I install a regular <unknown> soundcard in Windows 3.1?
I don't know what kind of sound card I have. So therefor, its kind of hard to install it.
What do I do?
Computer:
90MHz
Windows 3.1
22MB RAM
Makeshift configuration
DOS 6.22

look for any numbers/letters on it at all put them in google & see if any match a sound card model.
or try standard soundblaster card driver then standard
failing that download a PCI sniffer, a program, (freeware mostly) that identifies cards.
some run just off a floppy disk.

Okay. I cant open it up to see the card, its a laptop. I will get that PCI sniffer thing.

What is the laptop make and model?

What is the laptop make and model?
Gateway 2000 SOLO Series, first model. Its very difficult to get the information on the Gateway website since it doesent have a model number.

Some sound cards just do not have Win 3.1 drivers, particularly true of newer equipment. Model numbers can be critical, especially in laptops. Perhaps that info is available in the BIOS. It is in Dell's.

Man Win 3.1 WOW.. that is OLD VERY VERY VERY OLD.. try going to driverguide.com and resigter and search..

I guess since Everest Home has been mentioned a billion times here you might have forgotten how useful it can be ? ?
