Title: setting up backup network
Post by: michaewlewis on September 25, 2007, 09:59:39 AM
Here's my scenario:
I have three sites (wt1, wt2, wwp), each connected by a fiber. Each site has it's own DC and the one in the middle is the enterprise controller. Each DC has from 5-15 computers under it. Each computer has a manually assigned IP address.
I am trying to create a data backup network that will be separate from the main network so that we can perform backups of all the main servers (DCs and SQLs) without affecting bandwidth on the main network. I've got the extra NICs installed and cables connected and ready to go, but can't get much further than that. When I enable the second nic on the servers, the other parts of the network (wt2 & wwp) don't show up in active directory (from wt1).
Before I get too far into this, I want to know if anyone here knows how to tackle this.
