Is there a FREE (remember, I'm a Scot!) programme I can install which will automatically inform me of driver updates for all my installed software?
-
Are you talking about driver updates or software updates? There's a big difference. One would update the drivers Windows uses to talk to your hardware while the other would update the software installed on your computer.
That being said, here an update checker for software. It can find updates for quite a lot of software.

Apologies, I didn't make myself clear - I'm looking for an update programme which will automatically scan my computer and load driver updates.
Thanks for the link Deerpark, but I notice that the programme you suggest is a Beta version - Is this likely to cause a problem? (I'm not being picky here, but careful).

I've not personally had any problems with it and it's a pretty simple piece of software so I don't think it will destroy anything even if it crashes. But use at own risk and all that.
-
Thanks again, good to know someone else has tried the programme without problem - I'll give it a go!

Filehippo won't scan for any drivers changes, only for software (if it has it in their library).
As for drivers, you can try DriverAgent:
http://driveragent.com/
Scan is free (downloads are not), so it'll give you an idea what you need.

I see....Thanks

Thanks everyone - I expect I'll just have to wait for someone to come up with the gadget I'm asking for in the future.

Aren't you thinking about BigFix?
