Title: sata harddrives

I am a novice computer builder. I am interested in learning how sata hard drives work and how to set them up, plus maybe learn more about the advantages of using this set up. My question is, where can i go to get information on how to set up a sata hardrive? I find alot of info about what sata is, but not on how to do. Thank you for your time.  :)
