Title: Can't Install Win XP on new system

I just built a brand new PC from all new components here are the specs:
Pentium 4 3.0 GHZ Processor
ASUS P4800 SE Motherboard
Kingston 512 MB DDR 400 RAM
WD Caviar 40 GB Hard Drive
LG Multi DVD Drive
ATI RADEON 9200 128MB DDR AGP8X VID CARD

I have just recently tried to install windows XP on the machine but when setup starts I get the error

STOP: 0x00000050 (0XC95E6EB4, 0x00000001, 0XF84AC14F, 0x00000000)

and then it says something about setupdd.sys PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA F84AC19F F84A2000 3b7d8507

please help me!!!  ???

Did you/ do you have any USB devices attached or trying to use an SCSI devices when running the XP installation?

Have you tried swap testing the RAM with another stick?

no usb's attached and  no SCSI devices. and no haven't swapped out the RAM

If you can't swap your ram try using memtest to test it.

Stop 0x50 usually occurs after the installation of faulty hardware

It may also be caused by faulty memory:

Remove and reseat all of the RAM sticks, then reinstall.  If that doesn't work, remove all but one RAM stick and reinstall.  If you get the error, replace that RAM stick with a known good one.

BTW: If you are reinstalling Windows XP, make sure you either reformat the hard drive first, or uninstall the antivirus program first:

how do i run a memtest?

I only have 1 stick of RAM.

should I try deleting the partition on my hard drive? will that effect BIOS or cause problems later?

Connor,

In the past, i've been able to fix problems with RAM by removing it (with the power off, of course) and reseating it in the socket.  Sometimes, heating and cooling with cause the RAM to slowly move out of the socket, so reseating helps.  

Make sure you touch a metal part of the computer case to ground yourself and reduce ESD, which may damage the RAM, before you remove it.  If you must put the RAM down, do not place it on a metal or plastic surface; place it on a sheet of paper to protect it from ESD.

If reseating does not work, try purchasing a new 512 MB RAM stick of the same kind (e.g., PC 100, PC 133, or whatever your motherboard requires).

If replacing the RAM does not fix the problem, it is some other hardware that is at fault, as GX1 suggested.  (For example, a power supply that is failing to provide enough wattage to satisfy the system may produce a 0x50 error.)

Download memtest, create the floppy, read the memtest readme text, run the test for a few hours.
