And that's a great theory Bono has - reduce poverty by writing off debt. Not doing anything specifically to increase production or wealth, but oh, well.......

I hate celebrities.

Apart from Dr. Phil.

Quote
"And who is proving most effective in figuring out how to eradicate those calamities? In different ways, it is Bill and Melinda Gates, co-founders of the world's wealthiest charitable foundation, and Bono, the Irish rocker who has made debt reduction sexy," Time's managing editor Jim Kelly writes.

Either Jim Kelly has played Will in Will & Grace or the human race has hit a new low.

I am certain that showing up on television once in a while getting others to spend money on a goal you think is necessary even though you make more money per quarter than all the consumers who like your product would in 1 year  is a more noteworthy act than, say, flying doctors who actually bother to spend more than 10 minutes aiding poor people world wide. Or any other charity, for that matter.

I guess Bono truly is a great person. Even though he makes Rock 'n Roll music, which is kind-of associated with sex and drugs. So in a way, Bono's making blood money and is now forcing it onto people he was previously unable to reach due to their lack of money.

If you look at that way - he's nothing more but a money laundering criminal who's looking for an extra few minutes of fame.

I told you celebrities can't be trusted. *censored*. Now look what happened.

Bono is a perfect example of ineffective charity...
It's what happens when your own self-importance deludes you into thinking you are actually accomplishing something with whirlwind travel, photo ops, and preaching on how things should be.
When he starts giving away some of his 100's of millions i'll start listening to him.

It's about the same as Oprah auctioning off her talk-show wardrobe for charity...she didn't buy it the network did. Some sacrifice.

Do you often find yourself wondering wheter the drag queens make it worth it or not?

You're a very disturbed individual, Mac. Seriously.
