Post by: Glarg on September 18, 2008, 04:42:00 AM
When I type letters on home row, I find that it adds an extra letter....
Example: ad sd d fd jd kd ld d;.........
Its always adding a d before or after the letter I type... if anyone could please help...

Sometimes it'll start typing ddd... ect over and over by itself, and my normal keys work again, long as I ont hit d...

When did the problem start?

about 3-4 hours ago, I've tried to reboot it and it does nothing to help the problem, I'm not brave enough to take things apart and look at it or anything just at the moment.

We'll see.

Can you make sure its not a problem with the keyboard?

Also, can you try another keyboard?

I dont have any other keyboards that will work with this computer, since it is a laptop, and am unsure how to check and see if it is a problem with the keyboard..

Do you not have a USB keyboard anywhere?
Can you borrow one or just try one?

No, I dont have a USB keyboard, never thought I'd need one since I'm used to useing the built in one. Only way I can think of getting ahold of one would be to run down to the local computer shop and ask, in about 4 hours when they open.

Can't ask a friend or neighbor?

If you go to the computer store, ask to try one, don't pay to try it.

I wish I had a friend or neighbor to ask. I'm out in the middle of nowhere when it comes to that...

All right.

Also, does this problem still happen in Safe Mode (http://www.computerhope.com/issues/chsafe.htm)

Yes, it does. Safe mode was one of the first things I tried when it started happening.

So, I didnt make it to the computer shop, when I got up to run in it randomly started working perfectly fine once again. I dont know why, or for how long, but lets hope it stays that way. *crosses fingers*

Sounds like it could be that the keyboard had come loose...

Let us know if it happens again, the keyboard may need to be internally disconnected and reconnected to assure its in correctly.
