Title: [PROBLEM] Red artifacts with nvidia XFX 8800GT

Hello this is my first post...

When playing some games (eg Counter Strike) no problem
When playing games like (Test Drive Unlimited - Pro Evo Soccer) red artifacts fill my screen after 20 or so minutes of play

I have the Graphics Card called "XFX nVidia 8800 GT Alpha Dog edition 640MB"

I have checked that the following are NOT the problem

- Power Supply
- Overheating
- Drivers ( I have the latest official XFX )
- Memory or Clock

Can anyone help?  :(

What have you done to conclude that the power supply or overheating isn't the issue? It certainly sounds like a problem with one of the two, if not both.

How old is the 8800 GT? It may not be overheating, but could be coming to the end of its life. Same with the power supply.

Please post the specs of the PC.

1. Overheating : NO (72C While playing Test-Drive Unlimited 1280x1024 etc)

2. End of Life : NO (bought 2 years ago - symptoms*artifacts since I bought it)

3. Power Supply : Not sure - I'll check and write

4. Specs : I'll write soon

5. BIOS version: 62.92.16.00.86

MY PC SPECS

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo 6600
VGA: XFX 8800 GT Alpha Dog 640MB - 192.61 Driver
Memory: 2 x 1 GB 667 Kingston
OS: Windows XP x32 Professional
PSU: HEC 550
Mainboard: Gigabyte 965P S3 rev 3.3

please help me... IM REALLY ANGRY WITH MY 8800GT!

If you've eliminated all those as the issue then all it could be is hardware failure on the part of the video card.

if you had these symptoms when you bought it you should have taken it back. It's possible this is caused by defective hardware.

HEC 550...

First question, is the card plugged into the PSU through the PCI Express 6 pin connector? I don't even know if a video card would work without being "plugged in", but I figured i'd ask just in case.

Secondly, Please post the model number of the PSU. 550W HEC is probably more like 400-450W. The 12V rail that plugs into the 8800 GT needs to be at least 26A . Either post the model number of the PSU, or look at it and tell us what it says on the side for current ratings.
