Title: Error when Re-Installing Sound Driver for Sony Viao with Windows XP
Post by: aprilw on March 02, 2010, 10:23:21 AM: I am really in dire needs of sound on my laptop. I have a Sony Viao model VGN-FE790. It has Windows XP. It has been through a system recovery and completely wiped clean and re-installed. Aparently my sound driver was not re-installed. I went to the Sony support site and tried downloading. At the end I get the error message that the driver installed is not for this model. The site said otherwise. My computer does not list ANY drivers for sound so I have no idea which one i need to re-install. Can anyone help me? :-[

Get SIW Standalone (English-Only).
Double click on siw.exe to run the program.
Go File>Create Report File>HTML
Save the file to known location.
Zip the file, and attach it to your next reply.

C:\Documents and Settings\April\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IES\JSW9C9N6\siw[1].exe is not a valid Win32 application

????

I'm not sure, why SIW wouldn't work.

Let's try something else.

Download, and install Everest Ultimate Edition 4.6: http://www.lavalys.com:8081/everestultimate460.exe
Enter following registration code (Help>Enter product key) to make it fully functional:
RHGJE-54X47-HML9C-V498I-UUMVI
(it's all legal, the above version has been recently offered as a free download)

In left pane expand Computer folder.
Click once on Summary
In upper menu, go Report>Quick Report-Summary
Save it in text file, and paste it in your next post.
Don't include anything under the line Debug - PCI

This device cannot start. (Code 10)

Click Troubleshoot to start the troubleshooter for this device.
