Heya i have this dell pc that i bought in 2005 and been working great ... but from last couple month i been getting this blue screen whenever i turn on my computer ... not everytime but ocassionaly it happens so wht i do is just press the button on my cpu and then turn it back on and after couple of times it starts fine ... so someone please tell me whts wrong and how can i fix it thanks.

sorry i mentioned my computer specs after ur post so the article is for Using WinDriver with Windows 2000 Service Pack 3 ...

Hi!
I have experienced a couple of 'Blue Screens'. Mostly its as a result of hardware. It will behave like this (bring the blue screen) when you connect any peripheral such as new Hard disk, CD/DVD Drive or RAM Chip after windows is already installed.
However, I have managed to stay away by making sure that I do not install new hardware after installation of windows. If I do, I reinstall the O.S (Operating System).
For your case, backup your machine, format the HDD and make a new installation of Windows. This should help.

thanks for replying .... well i am not planning to format my windows now but ill do when my holidays start like in summer lol ... but if its cuz of hardware then may be its cuz i installed a new printer ... but thats weird

1. Remove Printer. Uninstall (and Remove) the printer from Device Manager, disconnect printer from computer, then reboot. See if the problem goes away. Also the little research I've done indicates "windrvr.sys" is NOT a windows system driver. You might want to find out whether it is signed (verified), where it came from, and why it's on your system.
2. BlueScreenView. Download, unzip, and run Nirsoft's BlueScreenView (http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html). This program will extract information from the minidumps on your system and display them in a format that makes it easier to look for a "pattern" (similarities or differences). If you're getting different Stop Codes on your BSODs, it might prove useful. If you're getting the same Stop Code, it will show that also.

Defective memory (including main memory, L2 RAM cache, video RAM) or incompatible software (including remote control and antivirus software) might cause this Stop message, as may other hardware problems (e.g., incorrect SCSI termination or a flawed PCI card)
DLoad and run MemTest...follow the info on creating a bootable CD.
Let it run at least an hour...
Any errors at all means you have a bad stik of RAM.

MemTest. Download the "free" diagnostic software from either www.memtest.org (http://www.memtest.org) or www.memtest86.com (http://www.memtest86.com) and create the desired bootable media. Once you boot the program, it will run forever (or until you press <Esc> key to exit).
