Title: Cable Select
Post by: Hopester Doofus on July 09, 2005, 08:56:37 PM
I understand the concept of Slave and Master when it comes to installing hard drives. But none of my books can provide a coherent description of what function is served by the Cable Select option.

With Cable Selection pin 28 is only connected to the Master drive. Pin 28 receives a signal from the IDE interface which determines whatever device that is connected to pin 28 is the Master drive.

If there is no reference to Cable Select, your books may be severly outdated and at the time the authors could have not been able to print an adequate explanation as it could still be under development.
