Title: Shopping for a computer
Post by: Spoiler on March 30, 2010, 06:56:00 AM
I ran across this machine.

What does everyone think about it. To me it seems to have all the whisles and bells most people would need.

It really depends on what you do with your computer.  Are you a hardcore gamer?  That machine appears to be decent gaming machine.

I think it really has higher specs than what most people need, since most, i.e. the majority, of computer users are not hardcore gamers.  Most users could spend less nowadays, even 1/2 what that one costs, and get a computer quite adequate for their needs.

I agree....its really for a hard core gamer. What I have is a guy who like to game a little but once he gets a machine he holds onto it for years. What I was thinking was to get something with a little more power then needed so it will last him a while.

If you have something else in mind that is cheaper please let me know.

Thanks

If you want something that's going to last I strongly suggest you go with a name brand. I happen to be a Dell bigot and you can get a great deal on some Dell systems, but regardless of which brand you select "iBUYPOWER" probably should not be one of those considered - in my opinion of course.

I'm pretty sure that's a custom build outfit, like overclockers or... well actually that's the only other one I know of.

Oh and this is a plug <for> the company. I don't have any personal experience but their slogan on the logo is "we build it, you play it" with implies that, <duh> they build Custom PCs, and this particular item just happens to be one that they built and are selling.
