Title: Installing W98
Post by: 69Z28 on April 05, 2010, 07:14:34 PM
I was fooling around with my old Dell laptop today and decided to re-install W98 to freshing it up. I downloaded the procedure from Microsoft to do a full delete and reformat and now I'm ready to install 98.  The diagnostic tools were successfully loaded to drive D, however, the device driver not found:'MSCD001' No valid CDROM device drivers selected.

Currently computer is sitting at the A prompt waiting for my next step and I'm not too sure what to do next.

Can someone help please?

Thanks

No sir. Following the procedure from Microsoft it says to insert startup disc in floppy disk drive and restart. How do I boot from the CD? I think I tried this once before and I couldn't do it then.

The computer was giving me all kinds of signs there was something wrong with the hard drive, I just didn't see them.

Hard drive has to be bad. I left the room, came back and my laptop was screaming. Hard drive lost a bearing. I have a 20gig coming soon anyway.
