Title: Will This memory work for me ?
Post by: R C Cola on April 09, 2010, 08:23:35 PM
Homebuilt computor, installed is.....512mbx2 Kingston DDR 333 PC2700.
Motherboard is Microstar MS9130, 2 mem slots in use and 2 slots available,
running 2 AMD processors, inquiry on dual channal says NA, not sure if I can use 2 more in 1 Gig size or stop at 2 more 512mb.  Right now my video download is a little choppy.  Am I missing any specs required for mem to buy to work in system?
   Appreciate your thoughts....R C

Standard Memory 0 MB (removable)
Maximum Memory 8.0 GB
Memory Expansion 4 sockets (2 banks of 2)
Memory Comments PC2100/2700/3200 Registered ECC DDR SDRAM DIMMs.
CPU Type AMD Opteron DP, UP, Athlon 64 FX 51
Model Comments 800MHz FSB, VIA K8T800 Chipset, ATX Form Factor

Your motherboard accommodates 8 GB but your OS will only be able to use about 3.5 GB so 2 GB should be fine. I would try to add the same Kingston PC2700 only in 1GB modules . I'm not sure what you mean by your video download being choppy, but more memory may not help with that. It's certainly not going to hurt anything though.
