No wait !    This IS a good topic..

My goal at CH is to see what I can do to get mr. bisquit as confused and annoyed as possible.

Why else would I possibly want to be a member of a place, such as CH   ? ?

I just can't see any other reason

OK, seriously, *censored* is with the attitudes here? somebody likes BSD and not windows so suddenly he's our enemy? He knows more about things we are unfamiliar with so we have to annoy and confuse him at every chance? I mean, sure, I did that, at first, but he made several interesting points, and there is absolutely no denying that having him as a visitor can provide great gains to this forum, especially with regard to Linux/FreeBSD and other systems.

I can use Linux, and FreeBSD, but I can guarantee that mr.bisquit can use them better. Many people on this forum know this- they know that they could never figure out qemu, or various other tools of that sort, without assistance. And that makes them feel vulnerable. and when they feel vulnerable, they get defensive.

Let's not forget the completely unrelated random comments like "I use a freeBSD disc as a coaster" how is that helpful?  Is this anyway to treat an obvious credit to the forum if he decides to offer his assistance? No.

it's one thing to disagree with somebody but it's quite another to disagree with their opinion simply because it is their opinion.

It's high time we realize that just because the Windows Operating system holds the most marketing share that neither means it is the best nor does it mean that everybody seeking help here will be using it. And if the entire purpose of this forum is to provide assistance it seems only logical that having somebody that can help provide assistance that most other cannot is a huge asset.

I may not agree with mr.bisquit on everything, but I know enough not to let those disagreements fuel ridiculous posts like those made by Quantos and several other members, including myself(at first), and although I doubt mr.bisquit was at all affected by it (he has nerves of steel, which I think may contribute to why everybody seems so intent on "making him as confused and annoyed" as possible) I do apologize for those.

I wasn't addressing you directly. I just happened to use your post as a sample of a larger set of similar themed posts- including the ones I made.

I like the forum here somewhat.

It's probably the first Windows-centric forum I have found which isn't full of snobs and dolts.

heh, Only there can a post (http://forums.thedailywtf.com/forums/t/15871.aspx) about a screwed up text box devolve into an argument about java UI, further devolve into a Mac VS Windows Vs Linux debate, devolve even <FURTHER> into scrollbars versus scrollwheels, return to the java vs everything else debate, introduce "jabascript" to the conversation, go on for a few posts postulating what jabascript is, eventually concluding it has something to do with the hutts, turn yet again into a comparison and argument about compiled versus interpreted languages, and finally ending with a completely random simpsons quote.

Actually that's quite typical of threads there. the main thing to note is that out of 20 or so posts not a single one was related to the original one. awesome.
