Title: Windows vista missing network Drivers
Post by: Beta on April 19, 2010, 11:35:16 AM
I have Toshiba laptop (Satellite U505-S2925BN), upgraded from vista to Win7, every thing is working fine except when I checked the drivers on the device manager I found a question mark under other devices and when I open it I found 4 drivers missing: Base system Device (2 times), Network Controller, and unknown device.
I also noticed that my wireless is not working it is not detecting my router and I can not connect to internet any more. When I click on the question mark I got this message "The drivers for this device are not installed (Code 28)"
I have tried to find these drivers on Toshiba site with no help. All drivers are available except this one...please help

You need to start by installing the correct chipset driver for Windows 7

Hi Allan, I have done as per your advice, but the problem still the same. Can I just use me back up CD's and install vista back???

The drivers are on your laptop Driver CD...not in Vista.
Sometimes the generic ones work...but it doesn't seem it's the case this time.
Travel to Toshiba's site and enter your model/serial # to find the correct ones...

I am still having problem with one driver missing, my wi fi still not working and when I downloaded the wi fi driver and try to installe it I got the message "Driver_wi_Fi_realtek_0s2010081a_exe is not a valid win32 application"

The Atheros driver should have worked ...and possibly is working.
Have you tried to set up your wireless network from scratch in Control Panel ? ?

Expand Other Devices and see what else is listed....
Also DLoad install and run Everest Home and save a log to a text file and post it here...
Do NOT include any info under the Debug PC line.....

Hi,
   Goto your machine manufacturer website and select your model but change the Operating System from Windows Vista to Windows 7 and then download the drivers accordingly.
 * Start from Chipset drivers.
 * Then install Audio and video drivers.
 * Then install Modem drivers.
 * Now install Network drivers.

Please reply.

Hi still no luck,
I could not find the network driver on any site, its:( Realtek RTL8102E Family PCI-E Fast Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.0) Driver.
This one I can not located in Toshiba Site. All the ones I found for Win vista or XP non for Win7/32
I did as you said pcs365_2 : Chipset, then audio and video, modem and I stuck because no Network drivers.
My lap top use to detect any network automatically, now I am using the USB type adapter (mobile broadband) to connect to enternet. This is the only way I can communicate to you.

I had a similar problem when I installed Vista, I could not get the network driver to work. However, after d/loading all the Win updates, I noticed an update (optional) for the network drivers, installed and all worked after that. I know this is not a very 'Techy' reply, but it worked for me. Good luck. Alexma

Guys Thank you all my problem solved last week. I am sorry for the late update, I found the driver on my recovery CD, which I made the first time I bought my lap top. I advice everybody to do that first when you buy new computer, because that helps a lot. Thank you all for the support and time, I do appreciate what you guys doing here...
