I am trying to connect to my wireless network and i get a message of TCP/IP not enabled;how do I enable it?

Also, information about your router and wireless cards. Information about your computer might also help. The more information the better, although some of it may not be necessary, it's better to let the people here sort out what is important and what's not.

The OS is irrelevant...the setup procedures are the same from Win98 thru Win7...

OK, first it's not a 1394 router but a 802.11g router. Very different.
What's the model of your wireless cards?

The 1394 was not the router but the name of the connection on my laptop:it is a 1394 net adapter;and when i try to repair the connection(i always connected to my router mentioned above but gave the computer to somebody and since i got it back can not connect)i get the message:following action can not be completed:TCP/IP is not enabled for this connection;

This indicates you are connected to the router through a wireless connection.
You are not connected through your wired connection (the broadcon gigabit).

Are you saying you have 2 wireless cards?
What is make & model of laptop?
1394 is not wireless, it's the Firewire port on the laptop.

As far as I can tell, your wireless is working just fine up to the router. Is your internet connection cable, DSL, or satellite?
Your wireless is not built-in; you purchased an add-in card? The Medialink?
Are you using the X300, now? If so, ignore the message, it has nothing to do with internet connectivity.

when I used the computer before I just turned it on and had the internet;this is why I assumed it has a built in wireless;now,because the internet does not come I am using the medialink card which was bought separately and usuallu used by my husband on his;

Your laptop also has a wired connection. Looking at the left side of the laptop, it's the 2nd port from the left, just to the right of the telephone modem connector (which you are not using). It also appears that your wireless is not really a card, but a USB adapter (bold above); the one from your husband's computer.
Your laptop may have a wireless minicard; Look on the bottom of the laptop and post the Service Tag. With that, we can tell exactly what's in there.
Does the laptop need to be wireless?
Did it used to be wired?
Can it be used wired, now?

You do have a wireless card:
J0846 Card, Wireless, Mini PCI Card, Broadcom Corp.2.4GHz
Now we have to determine why it's off. Remove the USB one prior to doing anything else. Then shutdown & restart. Having multiple wireless can confuse WinXP.

You may have to download and install the wireless drivers from the 1st page. I would do it anyway, just in case. I'm not sure which one it is. Maybe this one (usually not this hard to figure out):

please someone help me with this issue,my son accidently went into command prompt run and deleted i guess mouse, now i cannot even do nothing cause the mouse appears on the desktop but froze,i cannot even get to start/system restore,please help.and i cannot even use my reinstallation cd to recover cause i cannot get mouse to move so i can click my computer.
