Title: External Drive Hookup
Post by: GeorgiaSmitty on July 20, 2005, 07:46:26 AM
I've an external drive but its for USB2 and my machine has the older USB1. But I have a cable that goes from USB to Firewire, and I've some free firewire ports. Will it work? and if so at what speed?

FireWire
Also known as IEEE 1394, firewire is a technology of BUS that  has a bandwidth of 400-1000 Mbps and can handle up to 63 units on the same BUS and is hot swappable.

1.  USB2.0 will function on USB1.1 (at slower speed of USB1.1).
2.  You mean Firewire to USB?  Will it work?...maybe.  What speed?...depends on the "cable".
