Greetings all,
Using the latest version of Panda AV. Unlike WIN XP this program has an Inbound/Outbound Firewall.
The problem is this...it's too good! I am unable to access my Hotmail account with the Panda Firewall enabled. No error message, the page just will not open and finally times out. ??? No problem when I disable Panda and enable Windows Firewall. Also have a problem when on other pages like this forum....unable to submit my updated profile using my own picture with the Panda Firewall enabled. >:(
Been through Panda tech support and they gave me all kinds of settings to set outbound/inbound accounts...no fix. :( Have the latest version, updates etc.
Has anyone out there had this experience with Panda ??? Any good ideas as I really like the product?
Best regards,

Opening port 80 should do the trick. Perhaps port 587 for SSL.
I wouldn't say it's too good, I'd say it's a poorly trained firewall.
Try the following firewalls:
Firewalls
Using only one firewall is advised. Dual firewalls may cause problems.
Using a hardware firewall and a software firewall is even more adviced.
ZoneAlarm Free (http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/company/products/znalm/freeDownload.jsp)
-- Free firewall - more user friendly
Sygate Personal (http://smb.sygate.com/products/spf_standard.htm)
-- Free firewall - more configuration options

Greetings Raptor,
Thanks so much for the fast reply. Before I try other firewalls, I would like to open the ports you suggested.
Where do I go to open Port 80 and 587.
Thanks again,

I have never even seen Panda Firewall, these ports should be configured by default but you may need to do it manually.
The following ports are Internet/E-mail related:
Port 80 (HTTP)
Port 110 (POP3)
Port 995 (SSL)
Port 587 ( SSL SMTP?, not SSL, my bad. May only apply to Gmail?)
Port 25 (SMTP)
Are you certain that the panda firewall or your browser is not blocking cookies?

Greetings Raptor,
Just performed an experiment. Turned off Windows Firewall and disabled all the Functions of Panda AV except AntiVirus Protection.
To make a long story short I added back the Panda features one at a time and was able to open my Hotmail account until last but not least I turned the Panda Firewall back on.....yup you guessed it, unable to access Hotmail account with Panda Firewall enabled.
So Panda Firewall is definitely the culprit. I will just keep after their Tech Support until they resolve the issue. >:(
Thanks for the help.

A firewall should allow you to configure it. Can you not start the same elimination progress you have done earlier, but now within the firewall?
Be certain that it is not blocking any cookies. Hotmail requires at least 5 cookies to function.

Greetings Raptor,
I went into Panda Firewall and disabled everything and then enabled one at a time..No luck. :' (Finally after all that I simply turned off the Panda Firewall and enabled Windows Firewall and just like before...no problem opening Hotmail (guess ole Bill G. doesn't want ayone messing around with his stuff!). :P
Checked for Cookie Block...all cookies accepted.
This one has me stumped for sure. Heard back from Panda Tech. They suggested 'disable script' in Firewall and reboot....didn't work. ::)
Thanks for the help and suggestions, and if I ever do get this resolved, I will post the results. Might help someone else.

Saved the best for last:

Sygate Personal (http://smb.sygate.com/products/spf_standard.htm)

More reliable than the Windows firewall, and apparantly, easier to configure than the Panda firewall!

Greetings Raptor,
I'm going to look at ZA this morning. I never had Windows/Panda Firewalls enabled at the same time. When one was on the other was off.
Thanks again,

Greetings all,
PROBLEM SOLVED ::)
Solution:
Open Control Panel>Security Center>Windows Firewall>Exceptions Tab>Add Program>"Open Panda Titanium AntiVirus 2005">(be sure to check it).
Open Panda Firewall 'Connection Permission Settings' uncheck 'Automatically assign connection permissions' regenerate the list and scroll down, and using dropdown box change 'connection setting' to Inbound/Outbound on the following items: HyperTerminal Applet, TAPI 3.0 dialer & IPMulticast, and Internet Explorer.
That should allow access to MSN Hotmail with the Panda Firewall enabled. click>O.K.>O.K.>back
Thanks to all of you who contributed on this one.

Greetings all,
Sorry to say my 'fix' only lasted two days...and then it was back to square one again! :o I downloaded some Microsoft updates and that changed everything. ::)
I was in contact with a former Panda Tech and the truth is the "Panda/Sygate Firewall is a very limited version, and cannot be configured period". :( So buyer beware on Panda Titanium 2005.
The purchased version of Sygate Personal Firewall Pro is fully configurable and works very well. Sygate also has a free one.
FYI for all the Panda fans, there is a way to integrate the Sygate Personal Firewall Pro with all the features to work with Panda Titanium 2005. If anyone really cares post to this thread and I'll post the directions for you.
I was looking for a product that had AntiVirus and bi-directional firewall. Found and purchased ZoneAlarm (they have a Free one but without all the features) and could not be happier.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it ;D

Both ZoneAlarm and Sygate retail firewalls are excellent.
