I cannot open links unless I right click and open. I can't close im boxes on FB because clicking does not work I have run stinger and avg and I did disk cleanup I don't know why but this has been going on for a couple of weeks.

Is the pop-up blocker on? Sometimes it prevents you from opening a link. Try going to Tools>Pop-Up blocker, and see if its on or off. If its on try turning it off. This happened to me, but i dont know why you can't close boxes on facebook. Thats a bit odd for pop-up blocker.

wait ... you using internet explorer?
-
Pop up blocker is turned off and yes I am using Internet Explorer
-
try resetting internet explorer (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923737)
if you have sites you bookmarked, you may want to save a backup in case they get lost. Resetting internet explorer should not delete any of your favorites links, but I have had that happen to me before.

IE8 on Vista and Windows 7 has a new security restriction that is turned on by default for ALL zones on the security tab.
Go to Internet Options - Security Tab - Internet - click on the "Custom" button then scroll down to the Miscellaneous section. There are several entries that control the JavaScript engine in IE8. One of them is named "Allow script-initiated windows without size or position constraints". This item is disabled in all zones in IE8. That means that any link that calls a JavaScript function that opens a new window will not work if the size or location of the new window is not specified in the link. Change this item to "Enable" and those links will work again. You must do this for all zones.
Bottom line - the Window.Open() function will not work if you don't specify at least the new window size or position in the function call.
Not sure if it's the same with XP

I tried Mulreay suggestions and finally got Java to run on my computer.
I always get that Java is not installed on my computer. But, I check at Java.com and it aways says I have the latest version installed. And, whenever I would go to a certain tab in the Java menus internet explorer was not able to be checked-I could not put a check in the box but could do so for FireFox.
Did Microsoft do this because of alot of security problems with Java?
-
Yes they did. Glad you sorted it.
-
Yes they did.
Actually, no. It has nothing to do with Java.
