Just a heads up for anyone who lives in Britain as do I, and especially the north.

Except foreigners, bloody freeloading yankees, and let's not forget "aboot" their retarded Canadian cousins! Bunch of inbred folk they are, bloody chav stock! ;D

Would be great though Harry 48, so heads up in the evening. ;)
I will be taking my camera out to see if I can get some picks... hopefully but doubtful. Will post on my site if there are any. No point in a telescope as it won't make the clouds go away and you will have a smaller vision of the event.

I certainly am spending the next twelve hrs looking at my sky rather than a keyboard. But I will try to 'after my site' give some idea what is going on.

The night sky is looking scattered which is really good. It's better than complete cloud cover, let us know if you see anything.

OK unfortunately the sky was nearly impossible to view for me as the cloud was too widespread. I hope some others caught the night sky. Please post pics if you did.

You can subscribe to their email newsletter, which only come when there is something interesting going on "up there".
Disadvantages: at the bottom of every email, they remind you about their pay-for phone-alert ("Aurora Alerts") service, not a hassle, however.
I didn't get to see them here yet. Scientists believe it is still possible for high-altitude watchers to see the Northern Lights for the next day or two.

Too cloudy for me to see the Aurora but going out in a while to look at the skys. Thursday is the best bet for the shower.

Well I was outside for an hour and I saw 3 very bright meteoroid streaks. Very cool. Going into the big park tomorrow near where I live to see if I can get away from some of the light pollution. On Thu hopefully going into the hills around my city away from the bright lights when the shower will be at full strength.
Will keep you posted on anything I see.

Yeah, those meteoroids are pretty hot, it's hard not to get smitten with one. They have a warm personality, but once you stop moving, you realize, their as cold as stone.

OK. a meteoroid, to my understanding, never hits the ground. these are little bits that flew off a comet and are still orbiting the sun, there is zero chance that any of them are large enough or are composed of the proper material to hit the ground. And if they did, they would be known as meteoroids. But again, since most of it is just ice, the most that might happen is a little shower in some remote cornfield.
Additionally... Lightning? when did that come into the discussion even remotely? what next, are we going to discuss the probability that during the storm a viewer get's trampled by an elephant seal?

From the Money Times earlier this year.
Lorton, VA., January 23 -- A small meteorite hit the roof of Dr. Frank Ciampi’s clinic in Virginia on Monday. There were no reports of injury or loss. Dr. Ciampi practices in a small town of Lorton.
“I was in my office doing charts. It was Monday, a little after 5:30 p.m. And I heard a loud boom, almost like a small explosion,” said Ciampi.
The news was confirmed five days later by the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History as they were finding out whether the rock was a meteor or not.
"The first thing we look at is what's called the fusion crust on the outside. It's kind of a black, shiny coating, because when it passes through the atmosphere, it's melting a little at a time. So it's like an outer layer of glass, of melted rock," said Linda Welzenbach, manager of the meteorite collection at the museum
