Title: Zeus V3 virus
Post by: i8viruses on August 15, 2010, 02:59:11 AM
Dear ComputerHope,

I've had the dreaded zeus v3 virus for a week. I've followed the instructions you kindly posted to all malware sufferers, and I have installed and used:

Avira
Malwarebytes Anti Malware
Super AntiSpyware
Online Armor
CC Cleaner
Updated Java
Hijack This

All done in the order which you state. Unfortunately the virus still remains. I have the logs from the required programs, would it be alright if I posted them and you guys had a look?

Thanks,

Tom

Hello and welcome to Computer Hope Forum. My name is Dave. I will be helping you out with your particular problem on your computer. I am working under the guidance of one of the specialist of this forum so it may take a bit longer to process your logs.

1. I will be working on your Malware issues. This may or may not solve other issues you have with your machine.
2. The fixes are specific to your problem and should only be used for this issue on this machine.
3. If you don't know or understand something, please don't hesitate to ask.
4. Please DO NOT run any other tools or scans while I am helping you.
5. It is important that you reply to this thread. Do not start a new topic.
6. Your security programs may give warnings for some of the tools I will ask you to use. Be assured, any links I give are safe.
7. Absence of symptoms does not mean that everything is clear.

I would prefer that you download and run these scans and post the logs, if you please.Uninstall or delete all the others.

* Click Next to start the scan. Please be patient while it scans your computer.
* After the scan is complete a summary box will appear. Click OK
* Make sure everything in the white box has a check next to it, then click Next
* It will quarantine what it found and if it asks if you want to reboot, click Yes

•To retrieve the removal information please do the following:

Thanks very much, SuperDave,

I've undertaken all over the steps you recommend and I attach the anti virus logs.

I would greatly appreciate if you could have a look and make any further suggestions.

Many thanks,

Please download the newest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader from Adobe.com (http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html)

Before installing: it is important to remove older versions of Acrobat Reader since it does not do so automatically and old versions still leave you vulnerable.
Go to the Control Panel and enter Add or Remove Programs.
Search in the list for all previous installed versions of Adobe Acrobat Reader. Uninstall/Remove each of them.

Once old versions are gone, please install the newest version.
***************************************

Download Disable/Remove Windows Messenger  (http://www.majorgeeks.com/DisableRemove_Windows_Messenger_d2327.html) to the desktop to remove Windows Messenger.

Do not confuse Windows Messenger with MSN Messenger because they are not the same. Windows Messenger is a frequent cause of popups.

Unzip the file on the desktop. Open the MessengerDisable.exe and choose the bottom box - Uninstall Windows Messenger and click Apply.

Exit out of MessengerDisable then delete the two files that were put on the desktop.

I need to fix some lines in HJT but the program is running in the wrong place. Could you please uninstall it, download a new one and it will install, by default, in Program Files. Run the scan again and please copy and paste the log in your reply.
