For some reason, When I click on a file or a drive on my computer. I get an error message saying that the file or drive, isn't associated with something to open it. If I right click on either, I can select to open and it will open. Is there a way to fix this issue, and why would this happen anyway. I'm working on Windows 7.

i'm new to windows 7 myself did you right click and run as admin
also this should be moved to the win7 forum

Admin privileges has nothing to do with it.
Does this happen with EVERY type of file? Did this just start or has it always been this way? Did you post in this forum because you believe it might be malware related (and if so, why do you believe that)?

I posted this problem over at another forum. Yet I was told
I didn't do enough of a search for malware with malware bytes and
Spybot search and distort. I noticed it when I upgraded to IE 9. I seems weird
That it would happen after that. What would you recommend? I really
Need a tutorial to fix this.

1) Spybot is essentially useless
2) Did you do a full scan with your antivirus utiilty?
3) You didn't answer all my questions, but okay. Follow the instructions below and let's make sure your system is malware free:

I defraged the hard drive and all is solved.

There is absolutely, positively no way that defragging the HD would solve your problem. But okay, if it's working it's working.
