After nearly a year now I have been trying to find out why there is no sound when I use media player use any other play back system like Power DVD there is sound Windows will not play sound from the CD player. Running Windows XP Pro
512 DDR Ram 2.4 GHz CPU I have checked all the known areas even redgt32.exe but still no go. Help

Post misread: is the gray wire from the cd/dvdrom attached to the motherboard..........and as an expert i am amazed you asked this question.!<seen your website>http://pcseriescomputers.com.au/pcseriescomputers_002.htm..>>>>....no one would have put up for a year without sound......!

You may be amazed I am amazed that you should putting the grey wire because in Windows XP Pro you dont need it.

No We are still looking it's not the computer it has to do with Windows Media Player because all other players play sound.
The computer plays sounds very clear and in any other form than media player Windows.

Try adjusting the settings in the following menu:
1. Open Windows Media Player
2. Tools (Extra?)
3. Options (Settings?)
4. Devices
5. Select the CD-ROM player
6. Right click
7. Select properties
