Title: Power Supply Motherboard

Hi
Does any know a quick way to test to see if a power supply is dead or a motherboard. One more thing i was reading something, what does it mean by disconnecting a system board can you still get a Fan to run when a system board is disconnected.

Yes.

Connect the Mainboard to another power supply
Connect the power supply to another mainboard.

Ok thanks one more thing can i use an old power supply from an old computer, Old computer been 10 years old. on a computer thats 3 years old just to do your test. I know the power supply works on the old one. also the other way around the 3 year old power supply on an old main board.

I would recommend against it for several reasons:



You can, however, assuming that the formfactor of the older mainboard is the same as that of the newer PSU, connect the older mainboard to the newer PSU with little or no risk.
