Title: RAM Upgrade
Post by: stuart78 on August 06, 2005, 05:08:17 PM
I have A Dell CPi A laptop and am currently running 64mb of RAM. I am about to buy some more but am not sure what the best course of action is.

I have 2 slots and currently have one 64mb ram stick in one slot. What I would like to do is just buy one 128mb stick and put it in the other slot.

What I wanted to know is: Does the RAM have to be the same size in both slots, i.e, either 2x56mb or 2x128mb, or can I run 1x64 and 1x128.

Btw my motherboard will only let me have a max of 258 total and i can only use pc66 144pin so-dimm 64 0r 128. nothing else is compatible.

In your case I would put in one 256mb Stick if you can get one for your computer or if not put 2x128MB I would do what ever is the cheapest way out.

Thanks for the feed back, I can only use 128 mb sticks.

What I was more interested in finding out was wether I could get away with one 64mb and one 128mb. As i', extremely tight and only wanted to buy one stick.

Yes you can run 64MB and 128MB together making a total of 192MB
