Title: Gremlins in my Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R
Post by: skyeclipper on December 08, 2010, 08:08:46 AM
I have a Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R based system. Yesterday I pulled it apart so I could reapply the thermal grease to the CPU/Heat sink (long story- maybe next time). After rebuilding it, I have run into a gremlin. The PC will boot with the power switch every time I turn it on. But after some random amount of time, the PC will start cycling on and off on it's own . This on/off pattern repeats until I decide to throw the power switch. Other then pulling everything apart and reassembling it, I touched nothing. ;)

Anyone ever hear of something this odd?

thanks

What are your temps like ? ?
Did you remove the MBoard ? ?
If so were all standoffs used in re-assembly ? ?

Too much paste applied ? ?
These are the most common causes of a new/updated build having power cycling issues...
