Title: increased memory from 128mb to 768mb

increased memory from 128mb to 768mb - now I get this message "there is not enough memory to launch photoshop", but it ran it with 128mb (using the hard disk swap file) ??

computer: Compaq Presario 5wv295
operating system: windows xp
processor: 1GHz AMD Athlon
memory: 768mb

what is the pagefile setting?

Start > My Computer > Properties > Advanced > Performance > Settings > Advanced >
Virtual Memory > 1152mb

Okay, thanks. I asked because Photoshop was one of the few apps that would not run without an active pagefile. You might want to download and run memtest just to make sure the new ram is not faulty (http://www.memtest.org/)

Increased pagefile to:
min 3000
max 4000
-
It solved the problem. Thank You
BTW - ran mamory check and it is ok

Okay good. System Managed usually works fine for the PF, but Photoshop is an oddball. Anyway, glad you got it sorted out :)

Adobe Photoshop LE
was able to get it to work with
min 3000
max 3500

will not work with min 2500
-
