Title: Possible fried laptop? :S
Post by: chriscool9 on February 05, 2011, 09:08:19 AM
Hello there!
Well basically I have a laptop that doesnt do anything. I can turn it on, but thats it. I can hear the fan starting and spinning, but no HDD noise, no POST. The screen just stay black. Pressing the CAPS Lock button doesnt light up either, its completely unresponsive.
I think I can hear the CD Drive starting too.
Ive done some Googling but many of them atleast get a POST.
Any ideas?
Its an ACER Aspire 5535 with Windows 7 loaded on it. 3GB of RAM, 320GB HDD. Ive tried plugging it into another monitor but no change :(
Thanks

Chris

Howdy Chris....long see ...no time... ;D

1st 2 things i'd suggest would be DLoading and running both the HDD diagnostics and MemTest...
Both run off of bootable CD's so the OS isn't involved...

You may also want to remove and re-seat both the RAM and the HDD with ALL power removed and the battery out.
