Title: Upgrading Chipset from an acer veriton 6900
Post by: semicron on February 13, 2011, 10:29:43 AM
Hi Im currently using an Acer Veriton 6900pro with a 3.0ghz single core processor and was wondering if the processor would be upgradable from the motherboard that comes with this computer pre-installed, I wan't to know if I can put a dual core or even up to a quad core into this mother board or would I have to buy a new mother board all together.

If I were to buy a new processor if it were indeed upgradable then which brands would you recommend? I found an Amd dual core process at 2.4ghz for 33$, would this be good for the computer? Im a gamer and bought this computer thinking it would run most games but instead I need a dual core processor at least.

Thanks ahead of time

let me get my computers details and post it just in case you say you need them first.

That is a lot of information, what is the make and model of the motherboard though?

This is direct from the link I posted for you, it shows the different processors available for that system.

Intel® Pentium® 4 up to 3.4 GHZ processor with up to 800 FSB
or Intel® Pentium® D up to 3.6 GHZ processor with up to 1066 FSB
or Intel® Celeron® D up to 3.46 GHz processor with up to 800 FSB

To be absolutely certain I would recommend contacting Acer directly.
