Sp1 added boxes to my desktop icons.
Is there a way to get rid of them?
Thanks Bob Johnson
-
Could you be a little more specific? What boxes do you mean?
I've installed Win7 SP1 and haven't noticed any boxes.
-
Do you mean there are shortcut arrows on the icons? If so, see this: http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/disable-shortcut-icon-arrow-overlay-in-windows-vista/ (http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/disable-shortcut-icon-arrow-overlay-in-windows-vista/)
Note that this works with Windows 7 as well as Vista. If you mean something else, please clarify. Thanks.
-
No they are not short cut arrows.
Maybe there is a way of sending you a copy of them off my desktop?
-
Can you post a screenshot?
-
Dont know how

The way explained in the link at Wikihow is actually much simpler for Windows 7 users using the built-in snipping tool. Might suggest to Evil to update that tutorial to include that.

cabob512 - quaxo is correct - the link he posted is simpler.

I took a picture of the icons. Where can i send it
Thanks Bob Johnson

I mean an email address its a jpg file
-
Please follow the instructions in the link I posted. You have to upload the file to a free hosting site and then link to it.
-
I am sorry this that got so complicated.
I know that you are afraid of giving out any email addresses
Thanks for your efforts
-
It's not complicated and it's not about fear of giving out email addresses. It just about the way things are done here.
While the link I posted shows how to get the picture in Windows 7, Allan's shows how to upload it to an image host and post it on the forum. Or you could even just attach the picture to your next reply:
1. Click "Additional Options..."
2. Click "Browse..." and select the picture.
3. Click "Post"

This is the url for my desktop icons

What happens if you create a new icon on the desktop? Also, you can try rebuilding the icon cache and see if that works for you: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/49819-icon-cache-rebuild.html

Wish I could help more, but unfortunately I can't view things on ImageShack anymore.
