Title: No e-mail from AOL
Post by: Bobh on June 08, 2011, 03:34:55 PM
Hi -
I have 2 friends who use AOL.  I use Verizon.  For some reason they can not send me e-mail.  They get a message that the e-mail is undeliverable.  Is there anything I or they can do so that the e-mails will go through?   Thanks   Bob

What e=mail app do you use. ? ?
What filters are set in the app ? ?
Are you running a firewall app ? ?

If none of these checks work contact your ISP.

I hope I can answer your questions.  I use Vista Home Basic and Yahoo mail classic.  I am not aware that there is any filters I can set in the e-mail app.  How do I do that?  I use Windows Firewall and in the settings under the general tab the recommended is on.
I hope this answers your questions.    Thanks      Bob

I found the place where the mail filters are.  It indicated that there were no filters being used.  I don't know how to set any filters as the items asked meant nothing to me.  I notice that a new version of mail is being offered.  Maybe I should go to that.  Do you think that would help?   Thanks for your time.    Bob

You and your friends could try one of the free email programs like gmail and see what happens.

Almost always when an email doesn't go through it's got the wrong address.  Sometimes it's something simple like using .com instead of .net.

Thanks for your reply.  I think your suggestion is correct.  I checked other friends that use AOL and found they have no problem.  Therefore one must conclude that the two people that have a problem are doing something wrong.   Sometimes the simplest answer is the best answer.  I am checking this problem solved.   Thanks    Bob
