Title: please help, google keeps repeating last search

using: xp-pro(sp3), firefox4
problem; i open firefox, enter a search term and every thing works fine. i enter a new search term, and before it finishes loading, google reloads the previous search term? everytime i enter a new search term it reverts back to my original query? if i want to enter a new term, then i must close and reopen firefox.
exception; if i click on one of the auto suggest search terms, it will load it fine.
have avg free edition, i regularly run defragller, glary utilities,  and spy bot. have also run a disc check and ms malicious software removal tool(which never finds anything anyway). looked through ms config and didnt see anything new or suspicious looking. a huge thanks to anyone who can help me solve or at least identify this problem. is this a google issue, a firefox issue or a windows xp issue? any help is appreciated, thanks saul-t1

Have you tried a different browser?  Have you tried a different search engine?  If so, what happened?

doesnt do it in ie? revoed ff4 and used ie to install ff5, fixed the prob 4 a couple of weeks, now it started doing it again?
