Title: HP input charger
Post by: DPalmz on July 20, 2011, 03:14:59 PM
I've lost my battery and charger for my laptop.  I have a hp compac nc6120 laptop, on the bottom it says input 18.5V and 3.5A.

The charger is a compaq and hp
INPUT: 100-240V ~ 2.4A ~ 50-60Hz
OUTPUT: 18.5V === 4.9A
90W

The little end adapter doesn't fit though but I have a multi tip adapter to make it work.  Will this charger work?

Yes, if center is Positive (+) and barrel is Negative (-), which almost all are.  There's a small diagram on the bottom of the laptop and on the AC adapter.

Just to try and diminish the fear factor in the O/P's mind given the observation of patio. I have many adapters that as well as offering a variety of voltage selections also offer a polarity change. I have (because i did not know of how the device was polarity configured) just plugged it in and allowed current to flow.If it didn't work as it was selected for polarity on the adapter i simply changed it to the other alternative. If the issue had been polarity it worked without any seeming adverse consequences to the device. Was i just lucky.Then the Op could simply eliminate that as an issue by plugging it in.truenorth

Maybe you'd better buy a charger, and maybe a battery too, on Amazon.com.  You should be able to find these items there at perhaps the best price you'll find anywhere.
