Title: How to free up disc space in c drive?
Post by: boragivinay on July 27, 2011, 11:30:34 AM
I wanted to know how i can free up space in c drive by deleting unnecessary windows files and folders & other unnecessary files stored in windows installation directory. I am asking this because unknowingly i must not delete an important file.

Stay away from the Windows directories...not a good way to free up space...
Instead concentrate on movie files...Pics...and music...all of which can be burned/backed up to CD/DVD's...

System Restore, Hibernation, Temporary Internet files and the recycle bin are usually the biggest hd hogs. You can download and run treesize to see where space is being used (http://www.jam-software.com/freeware/). But as patio says - uninstalling files from Windows folders will guaranty problems.

To start with the basics, have you done disk cleanup?  In win 7 it's under system tools.  In XP it was under accessories.  Don't know where it is in Vista, but probably under one of the two.
