have downloaded and unzipped files but the cube icon for restore is not appearing on the desktop?

well, found out installing itunes first unlocks the little cube icon, however the whole recovery process is being a pain, get error after error, keep fixing them only to get new errors, surely there must be a simpler way to do this, its taken 3 days so far and obviously the ph is unusable until this is resolved...

What program are you trying to use to jailbreak? Redsn0w? iH8sn0w?
