Title: System Restore failing to restore
Post by: Tinbasher on August 26, 2011, 04:12:49 PM
Hi,I am using a HP G6000 laptop which has a 1.7GHz processor;2GB RAM and 32 bit Operating systemWindows 7 Profesional.McAfee Total Protection. My problem started yesterday when I was installing a program called Freefileopener_553.It failed to install properly and I got a McAfee warning that it had detected a Trojan "Generic EVX!Q" and instructed me to reboot which I did.To be on the safe side I decided to do a System Restore. But it failed to restore and I got the following error message."System Restore failed to extract the original copy of the directory from the restore point. Source %SystemRoot%\Registration   Destination ComPlusStaging".I have tried going back to previous restore points but still get the same error message. Can you possibly help?
PS Do you think that the trojan is the culprit?
