Title: file association problem
Post by: bill cavanaugh on September 01, 2005, 07:49:49 AM
After installing a shareware program, I can no longer click on an excel spreadsheet and have the spreadsheet automatically load
excel and run the spreadsheet.  I tried reinstalling excel - no help.  I looked at the file associations and they all seem ok.  I am using excel 97 and Windows 2000.  Any ideas on how to fix this?

Bill:

You may restore a backup (if you made one with the Microsoft Backup utility prior to installing the software).

You may also restore a copy of the registry (if you exported one prior to the installation).

You may also try uninstalling the program that caused the problem.

If this is Windows XP, do the following:

1. Start
2. Settings
3. Control Panel
4. Folder Options
5. File types tab.
6. Reconfigure the .xml extension to use Excel.
