Title: Set up internet
Post by: Alvin Shu on September 10, 2005, 09:33:32 AM
I know almost nothing about computers, and I just bought a new laptop. I already have a cable connection, how do I get that connection onto my laptop?

Has your Internet Service provider given you directions on how to install it?

If you have an older laptop, you may need to do the following:

You need a PCMCIA card (PC Card) together with a converter (Not quite certain how these are called). More information regarding PCMCIA can be found here (http://www.computerhope.com/help/pcmcia.htm)

Take the laptop with you to a dedicated computer store and tell them that you want to connect your cable modem to the laptop, they will inform you on the choices available and the price attached.
