Been using IE7 for many years on my WinXP PC. It has been getting slower and slower with many freeze-ups. Was doing a connection speedtest and saw an ad to try Google Chrome which I did. It has blinding speed compared to IE7. To good to be true? Have I given up security or some other important function by going to Chrome? I have Verizon FiOS and MS Security Essentials. Thanks.

You should get Firefox instead. Google loves invading your privacy a little too much to entrust your entire browser experience to 'm.

If you're happy with Chrome that's fine. It's considered one of the most secure browsers.

Thanks Allan. Is my experience with IE7 typical? I assumed the slow page loads were caused by Win Essentials making sure the pages were secure. Why is IE7 so slow and prone to freeze-ups?
One thing I don't like about Chrome is that the text is faint compared to IE7 and I can't figure out how to darken it. I changed fonts but that didn't work. Any suggestions? Thanks.

No, your experience with IE is not typical. And sorry, but I can't help you with Chrome, I don't use it.
Have you run full system scans with both your Anti Virus app and with MalwareBytes? If not, perhaps you should.

You can always try IE8 (http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=43)

And, there's Firefox (http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/) and Opera (http://www.opera.com/).

Much better with IE8. Thanks!
