Title: My computer will not work when i install a security system.

Basically i bought and installed Norton Anti-Virus 2012 and after the download my computer restarted fine, i preceded to set up a scan for viruses and it stated that i had quite a few, which is understandable because i haven't had a anti-virus program for a while. It then told me that my computer had to restart in order to get rid of some of the viruses but when i did my computer would not start again only getting to the initial logo before going to the start up screen, telling me that i had to restore my computer in order to get my computer to start. But when i restored it norton had been installed, so i i attempted it again and again with the same results, i also tried not getting rid of the viruses that needed my computer to restart as a temporary solution but when i turned it off the next day i had to it happened again!! i have even tried other anti-virus programs like avg free but the same thing keeps happening.
I would really appreciate some help if you can, thank you

Can you boot to safe mode?
