We had a power outage and now when you tutn on the PC
it gets as far as the XP screen, then quits and starts again.
This will happen forever. I pout in the restore CD but
when it says hit 1 or 2, regardless which I hit it gives me
and A: prompt and says Bad Command.
What next?? THANKS!

Try removing the diskette from the floppy drive.
-
Hello--do you mean remove the restore CD?
-
Better have the make and model of the computer in question. What sort of restore system does it employ?
Is there a floppy in the A: drive or is there a floppy which needs to be used in conjunction with the restore CD?

I was able to get to the BIOS screen, and then when i hit EXIT> with the XP Restore disk in it allowed me to use the restore disk this time. So everything is working now! i just have to reinstall all the software (luckily no files to worry about--it's my daughter's computer).
THANK YOU!!

I hope you do regular data backups for important files, as we all do.

Yes--thank you--on my own computer I regularly back up--and just this morning I went to Staples and got two UPS units made by APC, one for her computer and one for mine.
Hopefully this will prevent my having to restore the hard drive the next time the power goes out.
