Title: Font Settings Help
Post by: Smorement on August 08, 2012, 11:19:22 AM
I bought my laptop off a friend and everything is fine but for some reason on some text boxes the default font is Impact, too small and hurts my eyes to read. Here is a screenshot of what I'm talking about. I have no idea how to change it? I've tried changing themes, I even tried changing it the 'regedit' way I found online. Wondered if any of you guys would know? PS. I use Google Chrome as a browser and have tried changing the fonts via advanced settings in that.

Also, ignore the website. Was the quickest one I could find to use as an example. :D

After posting this thread, I tried figuring it out again but couldn't. But I found out the font is the same when using Internet Explorer so surely it must be to do with Windows and my settings? I just don't know how to change it.....

Right clik an empty desktop area and select Properties...all the settings you need will be there...

Graphics Properties opens up Intel(R) Graphics and Media Control Panel and I can't figure out how to change it there.

If this is Windows 7, when you right click the desktop you should get a menu which contains an item "Personalize". If you click this you should get a window titled "Personalization". At the bottom is a row of icons, one of which will be titled "Window Color". If you click this you get a window titled "Window Color and Appearance". The lowest item is a clickable link "Advanced appearance settings...". Click this and you finally get this dialog in which you can access most of the visual elements of the Windows GUI. The "Item" dropdown is the key.

The other way to get to the Personalization dialog is the Display control panel applet - in the Display dialog look for "See also" in the bottom left corner, under that is a link name "Personalization".

I have Windows Vista, I forgot to mention sorry. When I click Personalisation, this is what I find. I cannot seem to find "Item" in the dropdown...

If the screenshot is too small just click it and then view it larger on imgbucket :) sorry for the hassle. I'm in a rush :P

I cannot seem to find "Item" in the dropdown...

Item: is the label of the dropdown. It contains items. You can alter the settings of these items. You can see the names of the items in the list that drops down. (This is why it is called a "drop-down".)

Oh yeah haha. I'm so stupid. All the one's that I can change are set to Tahoma. Yet the text is still Impact in some places... :S
