Good evening blader3685 and welcome to CH

I do have a couple of questions for you.

#1... What OS (operating system) do you have (i.e XP, Vista, Windows 7 etc)
#2... Did you try plugging the laptop using the HDMI cable into another TV to see if you still have the same no sound issue.
#3... In your video driver control panel is your TV listed?
#4... When you have everything hooked up by the HDMI cable look in the device manager to see if there is any yellow or red items.
#5... How good of a quality is the cable (i am not trying to be a wise guy ;D) I have run into many problems with lower QT cables.

Hope to hear from you soon, Mike

Welcome back blader3685

Thank you for the information, I would update your chipset drivers, video drivers and last the audio drivers. If the rest is was OK then a driver maybe corrupt.

Sometimes the windows 7 drivers specifically laptop drivers that you are better off using HP drivers to see if they have a more up to date one or it will fix the corrupt driver that you may have. http://www8.hp.com/us/en/support-drivers.html (http://www8.hp.com/us/en/support-drivers.html) just put in the full laptop models name and then pick the windows 7 bit version 32 or 64 bit and then find the drivers for the above

Please let us know how you make out, Mike

Have you tried searching other thread from HP? http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-PC-Sound-and-Audio/Cannot-hear-audio-via-HDMI-laptop-to-TV-connection/td-p/6243

thank you so much hartbeatmr i pretty much updated every driver on hps website just because and i took some messing with but i got it working.

i always forget about drivers and stuff like that since its not something that usually goes wrong but oh well it works great and now i get to watch bleach on a 50inch tv instead of a 17.3inch monitor

once again just thank you hartbeatmr
