was wondering if anyone could help, i have a hp d330 ut (dl378p) that runs on xp pro, and i wanted to instal my creative sound card, ive installed it correctly but the plug n play wont register or pick up drivers for it, says the software cant be found ... i have a disc for the card and when i use it, it comes back with the card not being recognised... but when i take the card out and place it back in, it is recognised thru plug n play but it just wont load drivers ... i dont have a recovery disk for this pc, and was thinking from what i have read thus far that i may need to instal the motherboard drivers again, if so, can anyone help me find what i need? or any advice at all, thanks in advance

Is the link below for your Desktop?

Have you never had the sound card working?

Don't trust Plug and Play.
You need to turn off the on-board sound in the BIOS.
And remove the PCI sound card.
Reboot to windows and let it discover there is not sound.
Power down, restart and install the Creative drivers and programs from the CD.
Power down again, insert PCI card.
Reboot and let windows find the card and make sure is finds the drivers,
If Windows still does not find the drivers, do the install of the Creative CD again. And reboot, if needed.
One more detail; the BIOS may have a plug and play option. Try both ways.
That is the best I can do.

Test the sound card in another working PC...
If it's duff they arent that expensive to replace...
