How about some information to get some help?
Computer make/model
Video Card
RAM amount
Operating System
What adware/spyware/virus products do you use regularly
What happened before all of this started?
Is it related to any particular applications?
My clairvoyance is diminished lately.
??? ??? ??? ??? ???

HP 7920
Intel 82810 Graphics Controller
127 MB RAM
Windows ME
Bazooka, Spybot, Norton
Problem has been growing and is now happening several times a day.
All caches/history and temp files are cleaned, scan disk has been run and defrag has been done
Spybot is clean, as is bazooka and norton... norton doesn't do live update anymore... don't know if it is a program problem or computer program, it freezes during live update every time.
Does not appear to be associate with any particular activity, can happen online or just playing solitare.
I keep the task list to a minimum at all times.
(My brain is just about as frozen as the computer most of the time)
Thanks

If that ME has been on there a long time it may just be time for a format and reinstall. That solves all Windows problems (for a while, anyway).
:o :o :o :o :o :o
If the Norton ALWAYS malfunctions, it seems that needs to be uninstalled and reinstalled at the least, and that may not solve the problem.

Everything was reinstalled but computer till wants to freeze up evry time.

Test your RAM http://www.memtest.org/

Not a problem with the ram

Windows ME freezing? Not surprised. Probably the worst version of windows ever made. I say get rid of it and use windows XP. It is much more stable.

I am assuming correct drivers and everything works fine EXCEPT that it "freezes" .
I would boot with a Linux Live CD if it was me to determine if it was hardware or some Windows aberration.
Go to www.knoppix.com and use the mirror near the end of the list at mirror.cs.wisc.edu. Although slow on 128 RAM it will extensively check the hardware and perhaps point you in the right direction.

Bazooka, Spybot, Norton ? does norton come with the wime package? ? dont use bazooka?
-
Does it freeze in safe mode?

"Safe mode helps you diagnose problems. If a symptom does not reappear when you start in safe mode, you can eliminate the default settings and minimum device drivers as possible causes. If a newly added device or a changed driver is causing problems, you can use safe mode to remove the device or reverse the change."
Ergo, we must assume that there is a problem with the default settings (whatever that is supposed to be) or a minimum device driver.
Of course it could be a hardware problem too.
Is there any problems showing up in your Device Manager?
-
device mgr checks out alright
-
when does the hang/freeze occur?......all the time.....type scanreg/fix......in the msdos prompt......
-
Bazooka, Spybot & Norton could easily miss something.
Do these two scans just to be sure.
Free online virus scan

Free online spyware scan

Is your ME up to date?

Last but not least i ran scanreg/fix and that seemed to have worked so far no more freeze ups,Thanks a bunch.
