Title: Laptop failure
Post by: denisaf on May 19, 2013, 10:46:55 PM
Our Acer Aspire laptop would not start even though connected to the power supply so presumedly not reliant on the battery. It was hot. It appears that the battery was not recharging. Will replacing the battery solve the problem? I have seen mention of up dating the BIOS but that was for much earlier versions of the Aspire.

No. Do not replace the battery until you have made some tests

Some laptops, not all, will boot up normally without the battery in place. Consult your documentation for troubleshooting tips. Or go to the web site of the maker and see if that have tips about the Acer not starting up with power supply on the mains.

Acer Aspire laptop. No model number?

The model number is Aspire 5741G-434G64Mn. Thanks for that advice about battery tests.
